SynthMaster (Mac)

Difficulty: Easy

This is a simple setup that uses GarageBand and the inexpensive SynthMaster Player synth to give you access to thousands of sounds that work well with the Nova's touchpad.

1. Buy a SynthMaster Player license here (but do not download it yet!)

2. Download SynthMaster version 2.9.9 using the serial number you receive in step 1.

3. Open GarageBand and create a Software Instrument track.

Now you should be able to play the Nova and hear the notes played on the software instrument. To fully utilize the touchpad though we'll now load up the SynthMaster Player plugin.

4. Hover your mouse over the blue box circled below, and click the arrows that show up. Then select SynthMaster 2.9 Player.

The Nova should now play through SynthMaster Player.

5. Right-click on the left x/y pad, and select "Midi Learn X (Global)".

Then touch next to a horizontal edge of the Nova's touchpad. Verify that the horizontal movement of the touchpad moves the X axis in SynthMaster.

6. Do the same for the Y axis by selecting "Midi Learn Y (Global)" and touching next to a vertical edge of the touchpad.

The Nova's touchpad should now be fully mapped up to Synthmaster's x/y pad.
