SynthMaster (Windows)

Difficulty: Easy

This is a simple setup that uses the inexpensive SynthMaster Player synth to give you access to thousands of sounds that work well with the Nova's touchpad.

1. Buy a SynthMaster Player license here (but do not download it yet!)

2. Download and install SynthMaster version 2.9.8 using the serial number you receive in step 1.

3. For the lowest latency, download and install ASIO drivers. (Optional but highly recommended)

4. Plug in the Nova, and then open the stand-alone SynthMaster Player that was just installed.

5. Go to "Edit" -> "I/O Setup" and select the "USB A" as the input device, and "ASIO4ALL v2" as the Output Device.

Click "OK" and you should be able to play the Nova and hear the notes played through SynthMaster Player. To fully utilize the touchpad we'll now map it up to SynthMaster's x/y pad.

6. Right-click on the left x/y pad, and select "Midi Learn X (Global)".

Then touch next to a horizontal edge of the Nova's touchpad. Verify that the horizontal movement of the touchpad moves the X axis in SynthMaster.

7. Do the same for the Y axis by selecting "Midi Learn Y (Global)" and touching next to a vertical edge of the touchpad.

The Nova's touchpad should now be fully mapped up to Synthmaster's x/y pad.

Next: Check out the SynthMaster Intro article for recommended patches and tips for using SynthMaster.

If you cannot hear any sound after step 5., then check the bottom bar of SynthMaster Player. The "Idle" text should change to "1 Voice" when the Nova is playing.

-> If you see it change then the Nova is connected correctly, and you should check your audio setup and volume.

-> If it does not change then check the Nova connection.
